Use a modular formula
Combine a sandwich, wrap, grain, pasta, potato, or crackers with a protein food and produce. Add fats and flavor through cheese, hummus, avocado, nuts, seeds, dressings, or sauces.
Respect preferences and access
A cold grain bowl is not useful to someone who dislikes cold leftovers. Choose foods that fit refrigeration, reheating, break time, culture, allergies, and dexterity. Pack familiar items for children without making lunch a test.
Keep food safe
Use insulated containers and cold packs where needed, keep hot foods hot, and follow local guidance for time and temperature. Wash reusable containers and bottles thoroughly.
