Endurance creates protein demands
Long and frequent sessions increase tissue remodeling and can oxidize some amino acids. Needs are commonly above the sedentary RDA, particularly during heavy training or inadequate energy intake.
Energy availability comes first
Chronically under-eating makes it harder to recover and can increase the protein needed to preserve tissue. Protein cannot compensate for insufficient carbohydrate, total energy, sleep, or a poorly designed training load.
Spread reliable sources
Include protein at meals and snacks through dairy, eggs, fish, meat, soy, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, or fortified alternatives. The exact pattern can be omnivorous, vegetarian, or vegan when total intake and variety are planned.
