What is in the Chipotle calculation?
The build uses one published portion each of chicken, white rice, black beans, fajita vegetables, corn salsa, tomato salsa and romaine. It contains no cheese, sour cream, guacamole, tortilla or vinaigrette. Adding one of those would create a different comparison.
CAVA’s figures describe its complete named recipes, including their standard dips, toppings and dressing. We have not replaced those components with Chipotle ingredient values or assumed that a scoop weighs the same at both chains.
Calorie and sodium comparisons point in different directions
The calculated Chipotle build has 1,900 mg sodium, compared with 1,830 mg for CAVA’s Chicken + Rice bowl. The calorie-lower build is not the sodium-lower build. CAVA’s Greek Salad bowl is 585 calories and 37 g protein, so changing the recipe within a chain can matter as much as changing restaurants.

These are selected U.S. portions, not a complete menu survey. Extra drinks, sides and sauce packets are excluded unless named. Published portions can differ from the food actually served. Chipotle ingredient sums use its October 2024 printed U.S. table, inspected October 3, 2026; retrieval does not make that an October 2026 menu edition. The CAVA figures come from the accessible official April-2025-named document. Its printed date and current menu linkage could not be established.
