Sweetgreen Balanced Bowls and Macros

Sweetgreen’s vegetables-forward menu can support many eating patterns, but the word “salad” does not tell you calories, protein or satisfaction. Grains, avocado, nuts, cheese and dressing can make a salad a full meal—and that may be exactly what you need.

These are standard-build values displayed on Sweetgreen’s U.S. menu in August 2026. Regional and seasonal menus differ. Sodium and fibre were not consistently visible in the reviewed public menu snapshot, so they are not invented here.

Match the bowl to the priority

  • Higher protein: Chicken Pesto Parm and Kale Caesar each display 35 g protein. That does not make one universally superior; compare ingredients, allergens and total energy.
  • Vegetarian: Shroomami uses tofu and mushrooms, while Super Green Goddess uses chickpeas. Confirm the current vegetarian or vegan label and dressing ingredients.
  • Plant-based: Shroomami is the clearer standard starting point in the current menu. Custom builds should be checked ingredient by ingredient, including dressings, crispy toppings and honey.
  • Higher carbohydrate: Harvest Bowl combines rice, sweet potato, fruit and vegetables, which may suit a substantial meal or training day.
  • Lower energy: Super Green Goddess and Kale Caesar are the lowest-calorie standard items in this comparison, but protein differs sharply.

Why dressing on the side can help

Putting dressing on the side gives control over flavour and amount; it does not require skipping it. A satisfying meal is more useful than an austere salad followed by unplanned snacking. If you customize, use Sweetgreen’s live total rather than subtracting an assumed amount.

Allergens and shared preparation

Nuts, sesame, dairy, eggs, wheat, soy and fish appear across the menu. “Plant-based” and “gluten-aware” answer different questions, and neither proves freedom from cross-contact. Use the location-specific ingredient information and speak with staff when an allergy is involved.

Ordering example

Chicken Pesto Parm is listed at 525 calories and 35 g protein as sold. Adding avocado, extra dressing or a side changes that complete-order total. Shroomami offers less protein but a different combination of tofu, grains, vegetables and fat. The better choice depends on the person and context—not a moral ranking of foods.
